Snakewood and Ebony Damascus

I did this knife to match a custom bow. It is snakewood with an ebony front. It has copper and nickel mosaic pins. Seki City damascus blade. I hope he likes it!

YES Awesome job fitting the two woods.  They look great!!  What type ebony?  I have both of those woods, I may have to try them out on a blade.  Good job!!

I think it was Gaboon Ebony? I was a little disappointed that some light streaks showed up as I sanded it. Not too bad though.

Looks great. Nice shape on the blade, great fit and finish.  The bolster looks a little closer to the blade than normal though.  Great combo of wood.  Most ebony (I've used) has some lighter streaks.

I always thought it would be cool to have a knife made with the same woods my bows are made of (this one matches up to my Blacktail Snakebit). Greg told me to check out Clarence's work, one thing led to another and now it's a sweet reality. Turned out real nice Clarence! Thanks a bunch! Can't wait to get my grippers on that one.

That's an awesome piece of work skullworks. Did you simply epoxy the ebony bolster in place? I don't see any pins in it and was wondering  how you held on. Mike

Yep, the bolster is epoxied to the rest of the handle and then sanded flat. The snakewood and ebony were two different thicknesses. The whole handle is epoxied to the blade so I don't think it is going anywhere.

Well, I finally put this knife to use at the Sawmill shoot. She did one fine job on this med-rare ribeye...


 


Got a big ole 14pt'er running around the woods behind my house. Hope to introduce him to this little gem this fall...
