OK everyone, first thing is we're amateur knife builders and read and learn from all of the posts here. Tippit and I are working on a project together and one thing led to another, Tippit gave me a gift, and Dad said That to keep it, I had to build a knife for the St. Judes Auction...This is a craft that we want to learn anyway, so we jumped in head-first...Thru a lot of trial and error (actually several errors), we've gotten OK...We recieved a lot of help and advice from several great knife-builders and we owe a lot Thx to Russell Phillips. He showed us how to correctly finish a knife and did most of the work on this one....and made sure that we learned every step......I'll post some pics of the Sheath in a few days. It is beautiful, carved leather...The pics kind of tell the story but here's a little more.....During Turkey season this Spring we found an old Saw mill blade on Summerhouse Mountain here in North Alabama and asked the landowner about it. He said he'd think about it and in a week or so he brought it by the Store....The handle's are Macassar Ebony and Hippo Ivory that was given to me by a friend who's Hippo was destroyed in shipping from Africa...The knife is 6.5" overall and the blade is 3".....Dad cut out the blades and shaped to several styles that we liked and thought felt good in the hand....This knife turned out way better than I thought was possible and I HOPE it brings a lot of $$$$$$ for ST. Judes....Hope yall like it.....Skyler

Skyler you kill me!  Dude, I wish I was as cool as you, my head on straight as yours!  Fantastic knife.  I think it'll fetch a record price.

Skyler, that looks great!  And good on you and your Dad and Russell Phillips to give this to the St Judes auction.
Plus, you have learned a lot and can put that into your next knife!

That's an awesome joint project knife. Skyler, keep up that intensity for learning and soon you'll be making them all by yourself. I'm sure your Dad is very proud to teach you the value of working with your hands and the blessings that giving brings. Mike

Thanks guys, it was alot of fun. It was a learning experience. We are about to get Mason a knife started. Jeff, this was all just practice for the real deal. We are almost ready to put handles on it. Im going hog hunting Sunday and Monday. Maybe I'll be able to break it in......Skyler
