thought I should introduce myself
« on: July 30, 2008, 11:35:00 AM »
Hello all,
I'm Jon Christensen. I've been a member here for a short while (mainly lurking). My friend Doug Campbell suggested that I join up as an associate sponsor so here I am. Now a little about myself.

I'm 45 and live in Shepherd, Mt. (8 miles east of Billings) with my wife (Brenda) of 23yrs. We have two girls or should I say yound women now since my oldest is 22 and my youngest is preparing for her first year in College. My wife and I are still coming to grips with the empty nest thing.

In 1999 my family and I decided to move back to our home state of Mt. I left my job as a Horticulturist with Georgia Pacific and my wife got a job transfer to Billings. We moved back so the kids could spend more time with their grandparents (and we really love Montana).

Being the bullheaded type I wanted to work for myself after years of working for others.
I started making knives in 1999 when we moved here. I didn't know anything about knifemaking but dove in fulltime and treated it just like I did my college degree, living  and breathing knives for the next 7 years.

In 2006 I attained my Mastersmith (MS) Rating with the American Bladesmith Society (ABS).

I make all types of knives. Hunters, folders, bowies, just about anything.

I've been shooting a bow since grade school. I shot my brothers compound that he had in college but it just didn't take (for either of us). I prefer to keep things simple when I'm hunting.

I currently  shoot a longbow made by Rich Wormingtom from Wyoming.

I love hunting, fishing, camping and all that goes along with them.

Guess that's about it for now. I've been long winded enough I think.

Thanks,
Jon

'Bout time you got here.
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

I've posted two knives on the sponsors classifieds for those interested. The pic is a little grainy but that may take a little time to work out.
Thanks,
Jon

Thanks guys, Just remember to ask questions if you have them, I don't have any secrets!!!! I'm happy to help where I can.

Doug,
Yeh, I'm going but gonna try a reservoir with my brother tomorrow. Hopefully get into some bass and crappie. I got a new bellyboat for fathers day and have only had it out once. It's a u-tube so I don't have to crawl into it with my fins on like my old one. This ones like a barkolounger (spelling?). The wife said she'd fashion a beer holder onto it for me soon too, maybe tonight.
