Camp Knife with Kydex sheath
« on: December 16, 2008, 10:46:00 AM »
I have been avoiding Kydex too. Why? I dont know, maybe because of tradition. Who knows? One of my best clients decided to have this made and I must say, I love it. This sheath has other survival features for the user that makes it a very good choice for a hard life in the wild.
A diamond hone, fire steel, rubber attachment belt, and extra cordage for emergencies.
First the knife, which you may remember, with one of Kenny Rowe's nice leather sheaths(I might add they are great themselves).

Now the knife in the Kydex sheath.

I will try to get this guys contact info and have it on hand. I'm impressed with his work. Lin

I guess, in the real world, it kinda makes sense. It looks to be indestructable.
I also really like the fire steel attachment. I'm a big fan of being able to start a fire in an emergency.
I'll probably need his contact info in the future, Lin, since I can't even spell Kidecks, Cydexs, or Kydeks, or.....
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

As Kydex goes, that's among the best work I've ever seen. In the right application, it's a fantastic medium & very easy to work with. However, that demonstrates a very high skill level indeed.

Functionally superb!

Lin, thats pretty neat right there.

Do you have a shot of the "other" side? Rubber attachment belt...I'd like to see that side of it.

Thanks, friend.

I've always though Kydex looked cheap but that right there is good looking.
I think it was the mindset that using plastic was cheating.
I guess I wrong again...that looks nice!!

so, Lin..if I am seeing that thing right, the part that your belt goes through is actually a loop of webbing on a thing like a swivel, and there is a leg tie at the bottom?

My eyes aren't what they used to be unfortunately!

Ray,
I believe your right as far as the belt loop is concerned. It seems the sheath maker designed it to have as much extra cordage as possible including the tie down. Lin
