Adding weight to Wensel Woodsmans using wood arrows???
« on: February 03, 2007, 10:36:00 AM »
Is there a way to add weight to a Wensel Woodsman broadhead when using wood arrows? I thought I read one time where someone added lead pellets then installed the broadhead. I wasn't sure if those lead pellets were melted or left loose. Can someone explain your procedure? Thanks

I have done it by using loose #6 or #8 shot. Add shot to the head until you get your desired weight and then just put a little extra dab of hot melt on the tip of your taper and install head as usual.

Lead from a .22 short weighs 29 gr. Long rifle weighs 40 gr. I pull bullit-heat the head with a alcohol burner-melt bullit in a tablespoon-pour and tamp.

David, I take a 1/16 oz bullet weight used for texas rigging worms and drop it down a cleaned woodsman, I level the head and heat the ferrule melting the weight. This gives me a 160 grain woodsman and still leaves plenty of room for a normal taper on a wood arrow.  Good Luck  Greg
