The "Under three inch" challenge.
« on: December 20, 2008, 10:25:00 AM »
I had a customer request two matching knives for Xmas gifts, but they had to be under three inches!
(I HATE small knives!)
Forging something that small from large stock is not easy. Got 'er done, though.
At least he was thrilled.

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Very nice knives.  I'm partial to small knives.  Don't you think it's often a "legal carry" issue? L

Actually, and I surely don't want to dispute anything, I'm not a lawyer - thank God - but I believe it comes down more to INTENT than anything else.
If a cop had the idea that the knife on your belt, in your purse, in your glove compartment, in your pocket, etc., was meant for ill will toward others, I don't care what the laws are, you will find yourself in his backseat with cuffs on.
But, if it is obvious that you have good reason to possess the knife, or can demonstrate/establish a logical reason for having it, even if it's against the law at the time, that same cop will probably tell you to have a nice day!
For instance, even though it may be absolutely outside of normal protocol, I frequently walk right into my local restaurant, Post Office and even my bank with a Bowie in my hands to show the local "fans". Cops sit right there drinking their coffee and may even ask to see it!
I think it all comes down to "intent".

When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.
