Christmas knife for daughter
« on: December 23, 2008, 05:02:00 PM »
Just finished up a knife for my daughter for Christmas, with much help from KHALVERSON. Knife is 7 1/4" O.A.L. with a blade of 3 1/8". The blade was purchased from the attractive member of Dryad Bows and Helle Knifes at Compton's this year. The handle is bloodwood sandwiched between osage and a brass guard. Red dyed leather on a crossdraw sheath. I think she will really like it. Kevin has promised to post pics for me. Let me know what you think. Thanks and Merry Christmas, Mike Gerard  owlbait

It was the Varq. I'm amazed at how sharp these are and how well they hold an edge. I received a smaller one in the knife trade and field dressed 3 deer with it and it was still sharp. My daughter will have to wait to use hers on deer next year, the snow is really hampering our hunting.
Thanks for the pics kevin

JMR, we'll have to get together to shoot some time. Have you been to 4B's 3d course?
The knife looks even better in person. I shined it up some and worked on the sheath with some mink oil. I'll be lucky if she lets me hunt with her. She married a great guy with 100 acres of prime hunting. Granpa brings his hunting stuff when he visits the little ones just in case there is an open stand!

She likes it! My daughter really likes the knife and was proud to show it off to the rest of the family during our get-togethers today. Glad to have a friend like Kevin to help me with these projects. Merry Christmas to all and thanks for looking and sharing.

Glad to hear she likes it, but after seeing the knife, it is a beauty!
