Sambar Stag Hunter
« on: February 11, 2009, 04:17:00 PM »
I found another piece of Stag in that drawer!
Mated it up with a 5160 blade forged from some heavy stock and a stainless guard.
Fixed assembly? OK.
I actually forged this blade and ricasso to fit the handle end of the Stag. I wanted to remove as little material as possible for a nice fit.
5 3/8" clipped blade with a false edge and 10 1/4" overall length.
Nuttin' but fun here!

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Karl, that is one pretty knife, bud. I love the obverse view of the stag...really pretty stuff.

I'm going to get several pieces of the amber this time at Blade to try myself.

Thanks for sharing.

Got me wondering, Ray.
Obverse is the side with my name.
Reverse is the side with JS.
Like on a coin - obverse is "heads" and reverse is "tails".
Which side do you like?

I don't even know what a filter is! I change those on my motorcycle when I change my oil.
I just have an old "point and shoot" digital that's about 6 years old.
I just let 'er fly!

I like them both...but the obverse I meant was the second side you showed us....maybe I should have said the reverse side...or maybe I should have said "the second side" or maybe I should have just said I like the knife and left well enough alone!!!!!

It's filled with a "round" of African Blackwood and then a treaded tang and cut-off pommel screw.
