Dana,

Do a search of this forum for "stamp" and you will come up with quite a few options people have posted in the past....i just did it and there are quite a few threads dealing with this...might be a place to start until you get some replies

is the picture you have under your name, the same as your stamp? if so what did the custom stamp cost you, if you don't mind me asking

Another source is Al Lawrence at Riverside Machine Shop. He has a website and is easy to find and a good guy.

One bit of advice - unless you make really large knives all the time, dont order the letters any larger than 1/8 inch. Depends on how long your name is. For examplw, mine is Rhea and works well with 1/8. I tried 3/16 and it takes a large blade to fit it in the area that I stamp. Lin

Dana,
      I'm not either, but it sounds right to the point. No pun intended. ...Point.....knives....

     One thing, I would not necessarily say "knives". Just "Holman". When stamping steel, even though it should be annealed, it's pretty tough doing a good job until you get some practice or set up an arbor press to guide it. The more you try to say on the stamp, the more complicated things can get. This is just a suggestion.

    Some of the other guys may have a good suggestion. Lin

Dana,  No I do not have a very intricate stamp,just my last name.  A word of advice I received years ago is to always use your name.  Years down the road you never know but you might be the knifemaker someone becomes intrigued by.  Woul be ashame if that person did not know your name or could not even find it out.  It's best to use your name.  Lin gave some good advice on letter size.  A stamp will cost you about 100 to 120 if memory serves me correct.  I also stamp with a dull red heat on the metal,  tore my first stamp up very quick by not doing this.  Let me know if you have anymore questions.
