Schrade Old-timer Honesteel?
« on: April 16, 2009, 04:50:00 PM »
I recently inherited a Schrade Old-timer Honesteel from my wifes grandfather. Can anyone tell me anything about it. It looks like a chisel without a handle in a leather sheath. The sides are somewhat rounded and it has two holes in the end opposite the chisel end one of witch has a leather thong through it. I would like to keep it in my pack for touch ups in the field but I am not sure how to use it. I have never used a steel before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ivan

they are good steels. I take mine and use the leather case to hold the steel. The wholes in the steel are for you to snap it in the leather sheath.
