Seems like every time I go on a new adventure, I need another knife. After being with Iron Bull on the Ryegrass Ranch & seeing the sight of the Green River Rendezvous, I needed to go back to my old style of more hammered blacksmith blades. This style seems to suite me better as none of my blades ever come out perfect anyway.
I have a pile of real nice handle material...mammoth tooth, deer-elk-sheep-moose antler, and plenty of nice exotic wood that seems to show up in my mail box
But for a Fur Trade blade the trappers would have been carrying a forged blade from a local blacksmith with a wood handle or a trade Green River blade.
So for my first ever elk hunt with Doug & Claudia, my Elk Blade is a very rough forged 5160, OAL 7 1/2 inches, hollow ground with a piece of throw away knotty-wormy Osage...Doc
