I live in Dallas and have been searching for the insulator fire brick for a forge with no luck. I can only find the standard fire brick. Can any one help me out?

scroll down and click on fire bricks.
Also if you can find a nearby ceramics supply house they should have them too.

i live in wylie tx. just up the road from you, i started out with the brick from ellis, and they work very good, but you can only get a knife blade in about 6-7 inches. If you ned any help with heating let me know.

you can always line 2 bricks end to end and use another torch, or just stick the end of the knife out that you are not forging on.
