Let's see your Helle knife!
« on: September 06, 2007, 05:33:00 PM »
Just received my Helle knife blade from the great people at Dryad.  Going to do something with Osage and Walnut to match my Ancient Spirits Thunderhawk.

I'm curious to see how some of you fellas may have built yours.  Let's see 'em!

Okay, I'll go first.
This is the one I made to trade for a dozen wood arows. Both of us involved in the trade were very happy.

Stop making me drool, I lost my trusty knife of more than 20 years a couple seasons back and need to buy another.  Funny thing I found that knife near a trout stream in Michigan while enjoying the trout opener as a kid.  It was rusty and pitted and the tip was broken off from misuse, took a long time on a stone to put it right and it never was a "Looker" after that.  It was a trusty companion though and served me well for many seasons.  I choose my knives like I choose my hunting partners....very carefully, as I expect them to be with me for a very long time.

Awesome knives guys, Im a sucker for the stag handle models.

Wow I just got the chance to check out the link to the Helle knife kits, I am very impressed with the selection as well as the price.  Always nice to see so many styles of blades available not to mention they are straight gorgeous.

How are the blades for taking and holding an edge?  Do they come sharp if you buy blades to build your own or dull in the kit form?  Is it difficult to do an antler handle?  I have several sets of antlers to choose from and Im partial to that sort of handle.
