225 Grain Target Point

I am shooting 220 grain 4 blade Phatoms.

I can find 200 grain and 250 grain target tips but no 225 grains.

Any body know of a source?  Thanks.  Mike.

Make them from a 125 glue on and steel adapter.

mike...since your broadhead is longer than your field points...so there is a slight change in arrow spine....i'd go ahead and shoot the 250s..youll probably see that the extra 30 grains will fly good for ya....

I'm not aware of any 225's being available.  We have the 250's or everything you'd need to easily cook up some of your own 225's.

The only problem with making them with 125 glue ons and steel adapters, I have done it, is that the point is a bigger diameter than the shaft and it tears up targets.

jacobsladder,  regardless of  spine would'nt the extra 25 grains make the shaft drop out faster?

I probably don't good enough for it to make much diffence anyway.

Thats how I made mine with 100 gr.steel adapter and 11/32 glue on point.They fit great on My AD's but they are alittle larger then my 5/16" carbons and my footed axis/mfx but only a 32th of an inch.But I grind a slight bevel on the back of them with a dremel tool so you don't have that 90 degree lip to make them easier to pull and not tear the target as bad.I've never seen any 225 gr. points so I make do.

Just use a 200grn point and add the 5grn brass washers to get your 220grains.

that works, with the washers i think 3 would be the most you could add, with brass being so sofft it will adhere to the adapter or the field point. so maybe using some spray or a paper washer to keep them from impact welding to your adapters or fp's will help. I now shoot 250 gr points and 250gr BH's

If you have access to a metal lathe or a friend that does take some 250's and have them turned down to an OD of .320" that puts them right in the 225 ballpark.

I shoot  250 grain Field points out of my Horne's Traditionalist. In my quiver I have Muzzy Phantoms 220 grain broadheads. There is very little differance. Believe me I practice with both.I know the broadheads are pricey but take one just to practice with. You will see for yourself.

bent pole ......i do the same as you..ive got some 220 grain muzzys and use 250 grain field points.... i think the fact that the broadheads are a tad longer than the field point...the extra 30 grains on the fieldpoint probably compensates some...... plus alot of time with stiff carbons another 30 grains isnt noticable....

Yep, as a matter of fact Bucky and I speak about this all the time when we get together to shoot.. He said he should start a thread how many extra grains must you add before you see a noticeable differance in arrow flight?
