Forged to Finshed

Well, here is the first one I've forged and finshed. this is my first 1084 with IronWood handle. I think there is something wrong with the look of it. Blade is 4 1/4,and 1" wide, 1/2" rissco, oal is 9 1/2. Now i think the blade is to thin, and the rissco may be a little to long. the handle fit's good.
Let me know that you think is wrong. and don't hold back on comments.

Dana, dont take this personally but the problem I see with the knife is location. If it was at a house in say Weatherford TX instead of Dallas TX it would look soooo much better. Nice work,

I think it looks great. Maybe the guard it just a little to big for the size of the blade. I would be happy as heck to turn that out though.

I like the length of the guard, it lets it do its job! One thing, it looks like the guard is about the same width top to bottom. If it tapers slightly you will have less contact on your finger and it will feel "smaller" than it is. Looks great though, nice work!

The knife looks great.I think it would look better if the spine was in line with the top of the handle and the handle was either a little narrower or the ricasso wider.It would just make the handle flow with the blade a little better.

I agree Clark.  The blade and the handle need to flow together seamlessly.  There is enough of a size diff between the two that it seems to me like there is the blade and then the handle.  Other than that good fit and finish, especailly for your first knife.  Great job!!!!!

Ray mentioned to me that on hidden tang knives the lines look cleaner if the top of the handle and the top of the blade are  as close to being "flat on one plane" as possible. I started doing this on mine and the flow does seem to be better. That is the ony possible suggestion that I could make. Beautiful work!
