forge question
« on: March 12, 2010, 09:37:00 AM »
I'm thinking of building a small forge for heat treating and I was wondering if I should build the coffe can style forge like the one on   www.zoellerforge.com  or a small brick forge like the one on the same site.Which would be better?

Thanks

Coffee can forge is easier to pick up and move around. I recently built one using a coffee can inside a paint can and adobe, made from clay and sand. Have had trouble getting it up to temperature with the gas torch I have, so I filled it with charcoal and put a blower pipe in the hole. Got metal hot pretty quick this way.
