Lin have been looking at your post on tangs, I am using 5/32 steel are you filing down the tang just enough to get a shelf or ledge for the guard to fit up to and also do you use your milling machine for any of this thanks Wild Bill

Bill,
I slot the guard with a mill and then file the "shoulders" on the back of the ricasso. I have a tutorial on the top of the page. There are lots of pictures, but only a few of the stage you talk about. Lin
