Old Washington Hammer In

I should have mentioned this before now, but let it slip up on me. Today and tomorrow is the Spring Piney Woods Hammer In in Washington, Arkansas. I could not get there today and hate that, but I think I will tomorrow. I know some of you live within driving disatnce, so I thought maybe you might could be there too. Bring a knife or two. Lin

I'm sorry to say I dont have pictures. I barely made it myself with all of the bad weather over the weekend. Not that I was in a tornado or anything, but we were concerned often enough.

I did go on Sunday and enjoyed being there. I entered the cutting demonstration too, but it was not my day. My knife performed well. I was the only contestant to be able to chop a broom handle in two with one lick. The Camp Knife held up fine.

All of the other events were more or less a test of accuracy and technique. On a good day I can do well, but sometimes we just are "off". It was fun though and we got lots of laughs watching each other.

One especially enjoyable part of the day was a good in depth discussion of handle construction with Dr. Jim Batson MS and Bill Hicks MS. Lin

Thanks. JR was one of the safety judges.

Reggie was trying to cut a ring off of the can. He had sliced it already, but could get bonus points for a slicing a "ring" off of it.

A lot of the events require brute strength but some require technique. Of course, the knife must hold up either way.

The Hammer Ins are the best. Lin
