CRKT Neck Knife Facelift
« on: May 12, 2010, 10:55:00 PM »
Well, I hesitate to post here as I am not a knife maker but I do enjoy a beautifully made custom knife and love looking at all the posts on this forum.

I have had a CRKT Fixed Falcon neck knife for about 8 or 9 years now. I actually bought it before I had ever heard of a neck knife, I just thought it was a cool little fixed blade.

I had an idea to remove the Zytel scales and replace them with some flame maple that a friend had given me. It took a bit of work and I definitely made a few mistakes but overall I am happy with how it turned out.

Here is the knife with the Zytel scales.

And here is a few pictures with the flame maple scales.

I carried this knife as a neck knife this last deer season (after reading G. Fred Asbell's article in Traditional Bowhunter Magazine) and found it quite useful, I am looking forward to carrying it this season with my recent improvements.

Thanks for taking a look.
Earl

Those scales look alive, they look like they have veins in them! Definite improvement. Nice work.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments, I had a lot of fun with this little project.  Next I'd like to make a new sheath for this knife, hopefully I can get it done by deer season.

Skullworks, I love the wood handles on your Rat it looks so much better than just plain metal or cord wrap.
