Hunter for Blade Show
« on: May 26, 2010, 09:40:00 PM »
Here is a 1084 Hunting knife I just finished to have on my table at Blade. I have other knives but this one fits the Hunting Knife catagory just right. The blade is a little over 4 inches, the guard and pins are 416, and the handle is Mahogany dyed Stag. Lin

Back-to-back "Best Utility Hunter"?

When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Very nice!

Do you dye the stag or purchase it that way? If purchased, where?

What is the spacer material? I've been using vulcanized fiber but hear from others it isn't very stable.

I just joined this site today and have been playing sponge for the last couple of hours. I really like the color of the stag on that handle. I've had mixed results using leather stain on stag - sometmes get a nasty orange tint. What did you use?
Thanks.

Thanks Lin. I've long admired your knives in the various knife mags and if you don't dye your own, that's a pretty strong recommendation for Culpepper (I have their address). I long ago quit making my own mosaic pins. Life's much too short for that:-)
