Glueing Up Bloodwood &Purpleheart

Hey Gang,
just got done dimensioning a bunch of purpleheart and bloodwood laminations and was curious if there was anything I need to watch out for while glueing up bloodwood or purpleheart? Is a roughed up surface sufficient or should I also degrease them before glue up? Thanks Gang, Matt

Roughed up is fine. They both glue well. Watch the bloodwood it wants to splinter pretty bad. Make sure you taper it before you bend it in the form.

Thanks Mike,
yeah, tapered them on my uncle's thickness sander using sleds I made. Man, those thickness sanders are slick! I also made up a bunch of purpleheart, walnut, red elm, and osage tapers and parallels and osage belly parallels for tri and quad lam bows. Should be fun...it's good to be in bow building season again!
