Some new knives
« on: September 21, 2010, 10:48:00 AM »
Here is what I've been working on lately...

A 5.5" blade hunter from Aldo 1084, some clay on spine, etched in ferric chloride. Wrought iron guard from chain links given to me by Aldo. I put a half twist in it before shaping and left some of the pitting (and vice marks!).  The wood is Honduran rosewood sent to me by the folks who had me make this knife. I wasn't sure about it, but I ended up really liking the look of it.  I did a morticed tang chez Lin Rhea and really enjoyed doing it.  Especially since I have my mill dialed in.  Pins are peened stainless and the tube is peened copper tubing.

Here is another hawk from a rr spike...again.. I love having a mill!

A heavy skinner with guthook (I don't like em either)

And a big chef knife with wrought iron guard and manzanita:

Beautiful work!  I especially love the style of the first knife.

Very nice on all. Great detail on knife #1. I love seeing the styles of knives that makers fall into.

Man, your knives always have such great lines. I would love to have a chef knife like that in my kitchen! The skinner may be the perfect knife shape.

Scott,

Those are truly works of art, well done. They are beautiful.
