The one in the middle

What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.

This is my setup for this year...

The Becker BK-11 on the bottom is for cleaning anything I'm fortunate enough to kill.  The SAK is for uses too numerous to mention. and the BK-2 is for any wood processing, general outdoors stuff that needs done.

Good eye Sir! It is indeed a Yew knot, one of the nicest pieces of wood I've worked with.

A laminated Brusletto 4-1/8" blade in a red deer handle and my own design sheath.

Ain't much but it has field dressed a few dozen deer.

this knife was made from the file i started making selfbows with about 12 years ago.  i probably made 75 plus bows with this file.  the osage finally wore it down so it was remade into a knife blade.

I want a plainsman really bad, but for now I'm using a high pockets skinner.
I always hit where I'm aiming, but rarely where I'm looking.

Here are mine. Left to right.
A little Mora, I bought in 1963 or so, my first knife.
A folder my daughter bought for me in Italy- a region known for their knives, the name escapes me.
My most used one. A Buck my wife bought for me about 36 years ago.

I know there are many much nicer knives being made here, but these are special to me. Perhaps some day I will be able to show something made with my own hands. But until then these will do.

Here's a custom skinner that was made by a knife maker in Saskatchewan, it was a gift from my wife. I usually use it for skinning once I have the animal home so I don't lose it. It works very well.
