Are you working stock removal or forging.

For stock removal, knock the sharp edges off the teeth and them pick a shape and pattern you like.  I would make three small knives out of it if your a beginner.  They are a lot easier to work with and get right.

I like to leave the heavy marks on the file and then refine them down to faint markings left on part of the blade when it is finished.

Once you have done that cut or shape the basic pattern you want.  Then get rolling on the blade filing / grinding process.

If you haven't watched these yet, I highly recommend grabbing a cup of coffee and checking them out:

When nothing is good on TV at night, I watch knife making on youtube. I watch for the various coresponding step in other's forging or grinding. This gives me ideas and I discover better ways on some things. For you guys who have never forged, this will be a good thing to do. We talk about forging and thermocycling, etc in steps here on TG. Go to the videos and try to differentiate when one step ends and another begins in the actual process.

going to have to give this a go.
Hunting was hazardous, but at least it guaranteed the freedom of the individual.

There is no doubt that the onset of farming saw the end of leasure for the majority of people, who were destined to toil in the fields.
