READ Posting RULES
« on: January 07, 2011, 09:34:00 PM »
I think I should remind everyone that this knife Forum was started for Tradgang members and THEIR knives. Hunting knives only and NO COMMERCIAL KNIVES and knives from custom makers not members of tradgang. This Forum was not easy to get and I for one thank Terry Green for agian giving us a place. And I mean to keep these rules the best I can so we don't lose it. I know sometimes things don't seem fair and some peole get PO. But hey we all do our best. Hope all understand its never personal. thanks for allowing me the rant.<><

There will be NO commercial sales allowed.

NO showcasing of knives for sale.

NO sales commerce of any kind.

NO posing links for sales.

NO mentioning or hinting of ANYTHING to do with selling, buying or trading of ANYTHING.

This forum is for the making and showing of crafted knives by Trad Gang Members ONLY!!!

Sponors and Assoc Sponsors of Trad Gang are allowed to post pics, build alongs, and sale notices.

Any suspect threads for sales outside this scope will be removed, and could result in your posting privileges being revoked.

Hope that is clear, and you guys have fun. Looking forward to viewing your work.

I'll bump this up again.

I'm just as guilty as anyone. Even if I mess up, I still support the rules.

In response to "let's see your hunting knife", I posted a pic of three commercially made knives. As I read your post, that appears to be in conflict with "showing crafted knives made by Tradgang members only".
I thought about what this site is for and it made sense to me that no matter how much sentimental value these knives have for me they did not meet the requirements for showing on this site.

A small violation perhaps, but I appreciate this forum for being uniquely dedicated solely to this craft.

well its hard sometimes to just wipe out posts. The thead is huntig knives and there are both Tg member made knives and comm knives. Some people own both. I know it sometimes seems  hypercritical to allow your post and delete a thread started about commercial/custom knives made by nontradgangers. But the hunting knife thread was not started to show off custom knives from all kinds of knife makers.A thread started to show off a custom knife made by someone who it not a memeber here is not going to stay....hope  that  maks sense? Its like tomahawk usd for a hunting tool and camp so they are allowed on here. BUT if someone posts a throwing hawk its going to be deleted.

It's good to know that you are there Frank. I dont think any of the regulars that are here would deliberately try to break the rules, but I know, myself, ....I just sometimes am not thinking and post something that I should'nt have. I'm not mad and wont be upset over it being pulled. Just making sure you know. Lin

Frank,
I posted some pic's of a couple of "Helle" blade knives and sheaths that I made, there were some questions on how I did things, can I post a few pic's of the process?
Post is called "Thanks Rob Tattoo"
Thanks.

Frank,
I think Bert's question stems from the wording of one of the rules:

Quote
Sponors and Assoc Sponsors of Trad Gang are allowed to post pics, build alongs, and sale notices.
Terry wrote that rule when there were a lot of bow build alongs being posted that seemed to be guys "fishing" for orders.  Most of them had the phrase "I'm building this for a guy" or "for a customer" or the word "order" somewhere in there.

I've never been happy with how that rule is worded.  Basically, if you're making and selling a product and aren't a TG sponsor, don't post multiple build alongs.  To sum it even more, don't be a jacka**  ;)

Quote
NO mentioning or hinting of ANYTHING to do with selling, buying or trading of ANYTHING
That should cover it.  I'm an assoc sponsor and have had my wrist slapped for that one, mentioning something I sell on a thread (that I started) where the thread's purpose was not a sale notice.

Yes Jeremy I believe your right. Well there are nonsponsor sales being done behind the scenes. Not much anyone can do about that. But I would just say if you use Trad Gang and get info and learn how to do things and make friends its not that much to ask you help support tradgang is it? Becoming a Assoc Sponsor does not cost a ton of cash. But ya know no one can twist someones arm to do the right thing.<><
