Light Weight Hunting bow

Howdy, From Canada, I am just getting into traditional archery after 6 years of shooting a compoud on and off. I have a #42 King's Pawn Recurve ordered and was wondering how other people are set up arrow and broadhead wise for Turkeys and deer with their lower poundage bows?Am I correct in assuming a heavy arrow is prefered with a light bow like mine?Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A heavy arrow is always good for momentum on inpact, but you also have to have good arrow flight. I was shooting arrows over 600 grains out of a 45-48 lb bow, but not getting great flight (trajectory). I'm switching to 500 grain arrows.  It'll get the job done on deer and bear sized animals.

I'm sure there will be plenty of other ideas listed.

i have a 42 pound bow and i use 20-16 with a 125grn head they work great for me plus i use 45-50 spined arrows as well. hope this helps

I shoot 613 grain CE heritage 150s from a 46# recurve.  I limit my shots to 20 yards so my rainbow trajectory doesn't affect me much.  It maximizes my penetration with the light poundage.  It's deadly quiet.  It works for me!

I was shooting a 42# @26" recurve with 2013xx75 arrows. I shot a good size(About 100 lbs )doe at about 15 to 18 yards. The arrow went through both sides but stayed in the deer. The deer went about 40 yards and piled up. I was using 4 blade 125 grn. Eskimos. It wasn't a heavy arrow but it sure got the job done.

I recommend 100 gr brass inserts if you go carbon.
That with a decent head of 125+gr gives fairly extreme FOC and nice darts.

I shoot 45#. Depending on draw length I would recommend 2016 if you are shooting aluminum with about 145-150 up front. You might have to mess with the arrow length a bit to get a nice flight. The shorter you get, the stiffer the spine. Start out a little long.

I shoot a 45# Black Widow, with 580 grain (total weight) Carbon Express Heritage 250 arrow, with 125 grain three blade Snuffer. Good shot placement makes them give-up the ghost.

I shoot 600+ grain woodies with my ACS CX that is 47# at my draw. Can't say I notice any trajectory problems shooting at animals; it is just a matter of practice and knowing your comfort zone.

I like arrows in the 450 to 500gn range no matter what my bow weight is but only hunt with carbons.Plenty heavy for the things I hunt and not too bad from good performing light weight bows.I used 480gn arrows from my 40lb longbows this season.
