Here are a couple of Helle blades I just finished, not in the Class of some of you on here but am more proud of the sheaths, thanks to Mr Tatoo s tutorial on a crossdraw sheath he did a long time ago.
Regards.

The finish on the leather is beautiful.  Can you elaborate on how it's done?

Curt, I will post a few pictures when I get a chance, Am pretty busy the next few days so bare with me.
I am by no means a "leather worker" but just sort of followed Rob's instuctions, the first ones didn't look this good but I really got to enjoy working with the leather and just bought a few basic tools.
Regards.

That gut hook with the Osage is just what I plan on making as soon as I get the blade and some time. Thanks for sharing.

Bert,  Very well done on both items.
Just like the bows you built, your talent shows on everything you put your mind in to trying.
I been following this page for a few years now. I didn't know you where interested in building knifes. It has been in the back of mind for a while. I sure enjoy looking at everything that is posted here. Nice to see someone I know posting something. Well done keep them coming....

All right then,
First I make a paper pattern, just the way I do it not sure if thats the right way but it works for me.

Then I carve a border with a simple tool I bought at Tandy leather.

Then I dampen the edges and stamp a pattern I like.
As well as mark out my stitches also with a Tandy tool, they will be able to help you if you let them know what you are doing.

More tomorrow.

Then I let it dry overnight and do a little staining, I experimented with the stripes a little , I think it looks very classy compared to solid colours.
