spalted maple?
« on: January 18, 2011, 06:59:00 AM »
I was cutting firewood yesterday and came across some awesome spalting patterns in my sugar maple.  The pattern only shows in the round.  The firewood has been seasoned for the last 5 years.. but the fungus is obviously alive.  So... anybody know if you can send it out for stabilization as long as the moisture content is acceptable? Is it morally just to stabilize the living fungus? That might hurt. :-)
