Something different
«

I've been wanting to try something a bit different lately... Ray Richards posted a little utility knife on blade last week that inspired me a bit. Plus.. I need to start practicing for a JS someday. This isn't the best knife for that... but maybe a movement in that direction. I still need to work on fitting guards. I still can't get a tight fit without filing in shoulders on the tang.
Anyway.. this knife was made in trade for the awesome arrows you see in the photo.. the over all length is 7" and forged from 1084. Wood is redwood lace burl and the guard is heavily etched wrought iron. A bit of clay on the spine.

I like this one. Especially like the wrought iron furniture.

Scott, I love everything about your work, from the research to the knife to the photographic presentation. Bravo!
Keep 'em coming!

Nice drop point hunter. Did you make the file work random on purpose?

Thanks a lot everybody.... I appreciate the very nice comments.
Yeah Clay.. it's the same basic 'random wave' pattern I always use, although with slight variations every time. I just make sure I don't space each big dip exactly 1/8" every time when I scribe it out.

Really nice Scott! I like the choil configuration, and always the wrought.
Scott, is cutting the shoulder for the guard fit frowned upon by the ABS? That's how I do it!

Thanks again folks..
I don't think so Steve. I'm just being stubborn and wanting to try to get it to work that way. I figured that with a mill it would be easy.. but since I ground the bevel of the blade down into the tang, I had to taper the slot... which was out of my comfort zone.
