Friction skinner
« on: March 13, 2011, 12:34:00 PM »
This is my first attempt at a folder, kind of just a trial. I think it came out alright, but I like making blades without moving parts better!    :)
The handle is scorched padauk and the blade is 15n20.

I kind of like these old Colonial folders.  I also like the way you did this one.  I am planning on making some in the near future

That is really cool! I wouldn't have known it was a first attempt. Great job.

That's really nice! Love the way the Padauk turned out!

How do you go about scorching it?

Sweet looking folder, I would like to try one too but have no idea where to begin. Did you make all of the parts from scratch?

That is a sweet looking folder.  My question is... How did they carry friction folders in the old days without getting poked?

All the parts were made from scratch, its pretty basic really. a pivot pin, a stop pin, no liners and a small spacer on the handle. If I can do it anyone can!   :)

From what I've seen they were usually carried in a pouch.
