Coco Loco Recurve
« on: March 16, 2011, 09:54:00 AM »
For those fans of Coco Bolo, here's a random Damascus recurve with hot-blued fittings.
A 5 1/2" clipped recurve blade with false edge.
Destined for the Badger Show nest week.

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Nice work, Are they takedown knives, if not, did you just tape off the handles inorder to blue them?

Dana, to hot blue those pieces they need to be immersed in molten bluing salts at 300 degrees for 1/2 hour.
As well as the blades.
They are take-down.
Here are some parts from an old Bowie I did. Just happened to have these photos.
First one is the surgically clean parts, second is the parts suspended in molten caustic bluing salts for 1/2 hour, third is the finished parts and fourth is the tank I use for large Damascus blades:
