Antler handled knives!
«

I am going to try my hand with making one of these. Anyone have any, could u post pics. please, I would like to get some ideas for them. I have one antler in particular that I can't wait to make into a knife, just fits in the hand so nicely. Also does anyone know where to get affordable good blade blanks?

I can't find the pics of the ones i made with some sheds that were given to me. i used the base of the antler as the palm and found a nice guard through Koval Knife company. here is a pic of one i made using a blade from Crazy Crow and some osage.
good luck, watch out it's addictive

Here it is. I have some more they look to be all the same type of antler. I have some cut up parts I will use one day for tip overlays, and I have a few that may be handles.

Jmar,
I love the knife I just made with a Helle blade from a sponsor here, darktimberdesign.com. Sharp as he!! and a good price. Several blades to choose from. Here's the one I made last month with the guthook blade with antler burr on the end. Any deer I get around here with antler big enough for the whole handle is a wall hanger!

Here is the first knife I made. The blade is from a old file. I ground it slow where the metal never got to hot to touch. I inlaid tourquoise stones in the handle.

You can always split the antler to make it an asymetrical handle...either RH or LH.
