ironwood burl knife

I finally had the time to make another knife. This one is for an archery buddy that wanted a knife for elk season. I hope it is not too long and skinny for him. The handle is ironwood burl and the blade is 1085 carbon. The blade is 4-1/4" and the overall length is 9-1/2". Thanks for looking! Mike

That knife has a gorgeous profile.  Excellent lines...er, curves!  :)  The handle is beautiful, as well.

Thanks for the compliments, guys!
 Dana the only reason I don't have my name on my knives is nothing more than a bunch of poor excuses.
 a) I don't have a press so the idea of a stamp doesn't really appeal to me because I don't want the double stamp effect you can get using a hammer.
 b) I have often thought about an etch but so far I haven't come up with a design or logo or even a font that I like so I haven't really pursued it.
 c) knife making is a hobby for me and I always seem to find ways to spend my limited resources other than on a makers mark.
 I know I need to get on the ball and mark my blades but I want to be happy with it the first time.

Gorgeous knife!!!  Dont worry too much about the mark, I have one and have yet to use it on a blade.  Just finished the first knife that I'm actualy gonna keep for myself and am undecided on whether to put it on.  I feel that if I'm not 100% on my design then it takes away from the most important work that I've already done.  
Oh well... Sorry to rant, just something I've been thinking alot on lately.  "To etch or not to etch..."  :)

Mike, That is beautiful! You're conserned about the blade being too thin and I think it's perfect! I have trouble finding a blade that shape and that is my preference for any field dressing and caping. Once again great work!

Very nice knife mate, well done. That handle material is spectacular, is the ironwood burl a rarer material in the states or is it quite common, do you purchase it through the general suppliers of scales and slabs, or is it controlled ?

I bought this block from arizonaironwoods online. It's a little pricey for the burl, but it sure looks nice and their blanks are very nicely cut. You can choose the exact piece you want.
