Bowie for TG'er
« on: September 06, 2011, 07:05:00 PM »
I just finished this one for one of our fellow TG'ers. It has a 10 inch blade and the OAL is about 15 3/8. I appreciate you Lance.   :campfire:

Lance and I have talked for many months over the phone and that is one of the extra benefits of making knives as well you bow makers can attest. Making friends. Lance has been patient with me with not one word toward rushing me. This makes me want to do as good a job as I possibly can.

Hey guys and gals,
I would be the lucky recipient of this masterpiece.

I wish I had the words to express what a great process it has been putting this knife together. It started as just a simple Bowie from one of Lin’s patterns but after a few phone conversations it changed a bit. Then Lin started really working on forging Damascus, and it was not my turn yet so we changed it a bit more. I’ll bet the file Lin has on my knife is the size of a phone book with all the drawings and pictures I sent him. Lin probably spent at least as many hours scouring the earth searching for just the right piece of stag for the handle as he did forging the blade.

I could go on and on but at the end of the day when someone asks me why I picked this knife maker over some of the other great knife makers out there it’s an easy answer.

Good knives, made by a better man!
Thanks Lin,
Lance

That's a fantastic piece right there, Lance and Lin.

When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Thank you guys.

Karl, the butt cap is from the same material as the guard and the ferule. They are squeezed tighter than the blade.
