Scout Bowie
« on: October 03, 2011, 10:06:00 PM »
Here is a Bowie I just finished. This is the first time I have worked with Lignum Vitae, and let me tell you this stuff is crazy tough!
The handle is far more green than the pictures show. The blade is 8.25" 5160, with the OAL being 13.75"
The clip is sharp, but not quite razor sharp. I left some trace forge elements on the blade as this is meant to be a working knife.
The sheath is a scout style made from heavy 10oz leather, and is my first time making this style.

That's a fine looking knife, it has a real "usin" look to it. Also I like the composition of your photos, good job..

Great looking bowie there Ben. I like the clean lines and pure functionality. The mass weight of the Lignum Vitae should provide great balance. I've machined lignum before, it is one of the few woods that works more like metal then wood.
