Any of you metal artists have formulas for blackening brass and nickel silver? Want to file work it, darken it and then polish the highlights.

Brass black from birchwood casey works real well and is not very expensive.

It worked on a piece of clean nickle silver wire within 30 seconds. Followed by cold water rinse then wiped. Deep blue / black.
