Blade Show 2012
« on: May 20, 2012, 06:40:00 PM »
If anyone wants to post up anything comments about the Blade Show, we could put it all in one place here. I understand all that many people from Trad Gang may not be going, but I know, Lin Rhea, Kevin Evans, Pete Crowl and myself are.
Our illustrious forum owner, Terry Green is going, I hope to see Ray Hammond and others, too, if ya'll can make it.
Here are some knives I'll be dragging along as soon as Scott Teaschner is finished with the sheaths and the blades are hot-blued.
The guard on the spalted maple gets hot-blued as well.

(Three more to go!)

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

I should be there. I'm getting some things made to put on my table. I just finished a small damascus hunting knife. I should get the picture up soon. I look forward to seeing everyone.

I will be attending on saturday and I will definitely be  buying some blades. I will make it a point to stop by and say Hi. I think all guys here make quality blades and I enjoy reading and learning on this forum.

Can't believe I'll be on the road in 8 days and this is my first knife done?!
Yet, the others need very little, like hot-bluing, etc.
This is a Pack Knife with a 6 1/8" blade of high layer "wispy" twist, twisted wrought iron guard and a beautiful hunk of stabilized feather walnut that almost looks like it has paint brush marks through it.
I just love walnut.
See ya' in Atlanta!

The "Octo" Hunter's Bowie

One I haven't made another one of in four years now.
I find this particular knife relaxing to build.
W2 blade and Blackwood with stainless take-down fittings.

Karl, I love all your creations, however the "Octo" Bowie really does it for me! That handle really looks comfortable! And the slight Recurved blade and the "bright Furnature" completes the knife!

Have a great Blade Show!

Great work Karl! Exactly the kind of craftsmanship we have come to expect. That wrought iron gets me. Well done!

Me too, Doug.  I just messaged my wife and asked if she was up for a road trip to Atlanta next weekend.  She didn't sound very excited about the idea of dragging the three boys (youngest is 4 months) on an 8 hour drive "just to see a bunch of knives".   :D

Maybe next year.   ;)

Is the show in Atlanta every year or does it travel?  I can't make it this year but would love to plan a trip for 2013.
