Found a grinder - so happy!
« on: May 22, 2012, 05:45:00 PM »
As some of you know I have been on the hunt for a grinder upgrade and my pursuit has paid off!  I found a fellow knife maker here in Michigan and he had recently upgraded and had his back-up collecting dust.  It is a welded No-Weld from the plans available from Midwest Knifemaker and it came with the stand, 2hp motor, dual pully speed control and the obvious big wheel platten attachement that can be used slack belt by flipping over on the pivot bolt or either wheel extended forward.  It also came with the tiny, interchangable KMG wheel attachement.
I could not be more pleased with it because if I build one from the plans I will spend more on components and attachements than this cost.  It is in my basement now but will be at the fab shop this weekend.

Nice find!  I'm jealous...you'd laugh if you ever saw what I use to grind my knives   :)

850.00 as it sets ready to plug and play.  He also gave me a dozen belts or so.  Not brand new ones but with enough life to get me going while I make an order.  I just really feel fortunate.  I just wanted a decent platten and I got all this.
