This is a low layer twist damascus hunter with a walrus ivory handle.

This hunter has a 1084 steel blade with a stabilized spalted maple handle.

This is a little different style skinner with some very nice stabilized curly koa.

This hunter has a false clip and a very nice ironwood burl handle.

I have 1 more to clean up and photograph.

Wow, that's some great work. Hard to pick a favorite out of a lineup like that, but I love that number with the maple handle.

Pete all of those are beautiful knives. My favorite would have to be the second one. If you don't mind me asking....how do you get the smooth transition from handle material to guard material most noticably on the second and fourth knives? I've noticed Lin's knives have the same sort of smooth transition also with a crisp line on the guard material. It's something I struggle with on my knives. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated

Hi Craig,

The thickness of the guard stock makes the difference at least for me. 3/8 inch thick gives more room to make that transition. I fit the guard stock to the knife then grind the radius in before the guard is permanently attached to the knife. Then the handle is finished by hand to match the guards radius.

I hope that's not confusing.

What tool do you use to grind the radius in? Small wheel attachment on your belt grinder?

I use a 1/2 inch wheel on my KMG small wheel attachment.
