Andersen FOrge is FINALLY!! back up and running.
« on: September 23, 2012, 08:17:00 PM »
It has been a really, really long haul.
But, I have finally moved my house and shop 650 miles north to northern Minnesota.
After weeks of pulling things out of crates and tubs, basically re-building my shop from scratch, from building walls, running electricity, gas lines, painting, etc., today I forged my first knife since leaving Illinois.
I forged this Brut de Forge from a damascus billet I had made in Illinois to make my last knife there before moving.
I will appropriately name this knife the "Illi-sota Hunter" and give it a little special treatment.
I look forward to good things coming from Andersen Forge in the near future.

Me in the new forging area:
(You can see a little of the finish room in the back ground.)

Beating on some hot steel:

The "Illi-sota-Hunter"

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.
Chief Joseph

Ive been wondering if you were settled in yet, glad to see it all coming together for you.  Looks like plenty of space in your shop too.

Here are some photos of the finish room from the other day.
This is before all of my overhead storage was done and the ceiling lights had not been wired up yet, so it's a little dim.

Glad to see your shop is coming together. Just checked Google maps you are 3 hours north of me. May have to schedule a visit after hunting season is over. Welcome to Minnesota!!!

COOL.
I would guess moving that shop was a job.
The new diggs look great.
Can't wait to see the Illi-Sota all decked out.

Congrats on the move.

I hope to see you then, Chad. Bring your brother, too.
Or, we'll be having a gathering on the 20th. Hope you can make it.

It will still probably always be twice as clean as mine ,   ;)  at least you don't have to stop and look for tools for an hour like I do.    :banghead:
