Small tribal kwaiken
« on: October 20, 2012, 05:47:00 PM »
Hey guys here is another kwaiken I just finished up. It was actually a cut off piece from a larger kwaiken that I still need to finish.
I normally would have chucked such a small piece, but this one kinda spoke to me.
It has an epoxy soaked hemp wrap handle, and polished hamon.
I gave it a shorter, more traditional length handle as well
This is the first time I have used 1095(Aldo's), and only the third hamon I have tried. I am very pleased with how it turned out.
I also tried out my new etcher and stencil. I will still use my makers mark periodically , but with a name as unique as mine, I might as well use it!
It is about 3/16" thick at the spine. The OAL is 8 7/8", with a 5" blade.

I have to thank Ryan Weeks for posting up his hamon process, it helped me out a lot. Thanks buddy!
