Another Kwaiken
« on: November 21, 2012, 04:58:00 PM »
Here is another knife I just finished up for the upcoming OKCA winter show.
It is another kwaiken, this time in 1095. The handle is green rayskin, with black tsuka ito, and has a tapered tang.
The OAL is 11", and the handle is 4.5".(more traditional length)
Let me know what you guys think.

Who's going to make the saya for it?  Do you do the lacquer work?

I make saya's.  We have a traditional Japanese sword dojo here. We study Shin Shin Seki Juchi Ru, it goes back to 1536. If you send me a pattern I'll make you one.  You will have to do the lacquer yourself.

That is neat stuff Michael. Any pics ?  Did you go to Russia on the hunt you mentioned a while back ?

I love it. I really like that.
Can you tell me where you get your black tsuka ito?
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

If you need longer ones, you can order it by the gross (144 yds). I have an order in right now for a gross of black and brown.
