I'm anxious to see what ideas are generated here too. I'm in the process of starting a sheath for a large bowie also! I was thinking of utilizing copper rivits and burrs. Jon

One suggestion I would make for a large bowie knife if it has an upper guard, is to put the retainer strap on the top instead of the bottom. It seems to me the straps that hold the knife in by the lower guard always wind up getting cut on the way in or the way out. With the strap on the top, it's out of the way of the edge.
On a large bowie sheath, I like the retainer pin idea best. I think Lin Rhea had a pic of one recently. No straps to cut that way.

Here're a couple pics of the style sheath I prefer for bowie carry. The loop for the belt is attached to a d-ring on the back of the sheath so it can swing. That way if I sit down in a vehicle it can sit alonside my leg rather than poke into the seat. Retension strap with snaps goes on the spine side to prevent cutting. With the stud button the strap goes over the button, around the handle and back over the button.

Mercy! Thanks guys. Love the ideas. Gorgeous works.
I whipped up this cowboy theme holster with my Royal Slam Bow medallion i got from NWTF when i finished my archery slam. Not pleased with the cleaness but may redo.....thanks for ideas...that chipped stone embossing is out of this world.
