Aiken Forge Open for the Winter
« on: January 06, 2013, 08:21:00 PM »
This will be my first full winter in Aiken, SC at our horse farm.  After re-setting the forge up from last spring, I'm finally ready to go.  My dance card is full with 3 out of state adventures with Whip, Doug Campbell & Karen coming in for the Great Smokey Mountain Blade Symposium with a little hog hunting for Doug & horse activities for Karen with my wife Molly, and Xroadhunter coming up to claim his St Judes prise of forging a his own  Knife & Hog hunting.  Plus I'll sneak in some hog hunting & forging of my own.  This new retirement life style is hard work   :)

Over the past two days, I did manage to forge out a double ended knife for all the up coming social engagements.  Cheese/Sausage cutter & Beer opener in one.  Didn't have time to add a nice moose horn antler handle yet but that will have to wait my first adventure with Whip to our St Judes Cajun adventure this coming week...tippit

Great shop and beautiful knife. That looks like some serious old growth Bald Cypress for the knife background.

snakewood3,
That's the end cut of a beam that was in an old South Carolina mill from the early 1800s.  The major portion is our mantle over the fireplace.

Larry, I was kind of wondering if Jeff could add that feature to my knife   :bigsmyl:

Charles, there is always trouble where I'm involved (of course only the fun stuff and usually at my expense)
