W1 Belt Knife

A variation on a theme.
Forged from W1 round stock.
Paper Micarta handle from some scales I bought when I first started stock removal knives in '96. If this isn't from '96, then it's from '97.
I milled and tapered the tang for the scales, which I put on with my bulls-eye pins to eliminate any stress upon the handle material from peening the stainless pins.
A little harpoon clip for cool factor.

Hey, I'm getting ready for a canoe trip.  Can I have it?  

Seriously though, it looks great.  Not a huge fan of how those flared finger guards look, but they are unbelievably functional, and a knife is first and foremost a tool.

Not only what?  I can have it, or it's functional?  I'd hate to pass up a free Karl Anderson knife because I thought he ment something else.   ;)  Seriously though, I couldn't agree more, and most of the time comfort is much more important than appearance.  Keep 'em coming I get a lot of inspiration from your work.

To me, the knife has to be a package. If it is fully ground and finished, I don't think the flared guard would look right. On the other hand, if the blade, or part of it, is left in the as-forged condition, the flare seems part of the design.
