The wood fairy came!
« on: June 26, 2013, 12:19:00 AM »
I just got a bunch wood back from K&G today, and I thought I would rub it in a little!  :D  It took all afternoon to clean it up, but I finally finished.
This is some of the very best Curly Bastogne walnut I have ever seen!
And the Maple burl ain't bad either.

Man that looks like a lot of work!  ;)
You will be able to post knives for us to kook at for a good while.
That would be classifided as a nice stash!

You know, we all (me included  ;)  ) get caught up in all these high dollar, hard to get exotic woods when we have two of the best looking handle materials you'll find right here at home, three if you consider curly maple to be a different material than maple burl.

Before anybody jumps all over me for not including desert ironwood  :knothead:  , that was intentional.  It grows here, but it is just as expensive and hard to find as most exotics.

Thanks guys! I am not keeping them all, I have a pretty good source for the walnut now, so I will probably sell some of it.
