So after months of learning, researching, and trial and error, I finally finished my first to knives. They are both old nicholson files made using the stock removal method, "$50 knife shop" goop quench method, heat treated and etched in white vinegar for 24hrs.
Both passed the brass rod test so hopefully they're good to go once they get their final sharpening. I still have to make sheaths and etch my mark but other than that they are done.
The first one is 7" OAL, with a 3 3/4" blade, reclaimed white oak handle with brass pins.
The second is 9 3/4" OAL, with a 5" blade, rosewood handle with stainless pins.
Thanks for looking. Any and all comments, criticism or advice are appreciated. I've learned a lot from here and other places so thank you to everyone who posts build-a-longs, answers questions and inspires.
