Forging with New Knee
« on: August 17, 2014, 02:34:00 PM »
Been seven weeks since my knee replacement, it seemed good enough to try out in the forge today.  Still working on range of motion with PT but I can walk without pain!

First one back trying for more of a frontier style knife...

Rough forge 10 inch blade.

Second forging, refined shape, and 36 grit rough grind down to about 1/2 the thickness of a dime.  5160 OAL 11 inches.  Thinking osage or antler handle.  Knife has good heft in handle to counter the longer blade plus feels good in the hand...tippit

you gonna be ready for the MA season with that knee?  need any O1?   I've got more than I'll ever use...and I love to come up for a visit, shoot or forge or just to hang.
