Something different for me
« on: October 14, 2015, 02:33:00 PM »
I usually stick to making hunting knives but I decided to try something different. I just finished these two fighters. Both knives are made from CPM35VN steel. Top knife has a 6 1/4" blade and is 10 1/4" overall with a maroon micarta handle and copper spacer. Bottom knife has a 5 1/2" blade and is 9 3/4" overall with a cocobola handle.

Very nice!

How do you like that CPM35VN to work with? I need to make a stainless hunting knife for a friend and usually use 154CM, but have been wanting to try something new.

Thanks Ron. I find that CPM35VN is the same to work as CPM135. Grinds well and you can get a nice finish with some hand sanding to 400-600 grit. I've heard that CPM35VN holds an excellent edge, so that's why I decided to try it and compare the results.

I really like these. I dig that top one with the two tone bolster!

Great work as always, friend!

Those look great. I haven't tried a fighter yet. Hmmm. The possibilities are endless with this hobby.
