Finished a couple recently
« on: February 06, 2016, 08:58:00 PM »
Kind of reluctant to show these after looking at the other knives here but here goes-
The first one is going to the Outdoor Adventure Foundation for a fund raising auction. The scales are mesquite burl that was harvested from the ranch that purchased and donated it. 3-3/4" blade and about 8-1/2 O.A.L. with carbon fiber pins.
The second one is fashioned after a knife I saw here that Ben Tendick had made. The scales are canvas micarta with blue G10 liners. It is for my son-in-law, who is a police officer, for his birthday. I really wanted for the scales to be blacker so the blue liners would show better but I don't have time to change it now. I'm going to have a kydex sheath made for it.

Brother you have nothing to be worried about with those blades!!!  Those are a couple beautiful knives.  The new owners are going to be VERY happy with them.

Keep 'em coming!!!

Great blades. I really like the bottom one and I bet your son-in-law will too.

Those are very desirable!

Really nice work!

Leather work is nice!  (that's a whole other skill set) And I like the carbon fiber pins!

Those look very nice.
One thing you might want to consider. On the mesquite handle one, where the handle drops down to form the finger guard. The wood there is very thin and prone to breakage. Something to take into consideration with the next one.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the compliments guys!
Darcy, thanks also for the heads up! I usually use brass up front but my friend wanted all wood. Maybe I should have not made the guard go down so far to a point. More of a finger guide? Thanks again! Mike
